The Prince George’s County Planning Board of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) announces that Tony D. Felts, AICP will serve as the Acting Deputy Planning Director of Administration with the Prince George’s County Planning Department. Felts will begin immediately to transition into his new role that provides high level administrative oversight of the Planning Department’s Human Resources team and the Information Management and Management Services Divisions.
Since October 2022, Felts has served as the Division Chief of Community Planning where he has led a team of 38 professionals in the areas of Long Range Planning, Master Plans and Studies, Neighborhood Revitalization, Placemaking, and Special Projects.
Felts is an accomplished leader and brings more than 18 years of experience within the planning profession including his past positions in Alabama, Colorado, and Texas. Prior to his role with M-NCPPC, Felts served as the city planning supervisor with the City and County of Denver (Colorado) where he managed the functions of the zoning administration team, created strategies for improving customer experience, and developed and implemented a streamlined application process. In the Town of Castle Rock (Colorado) and the City of San Antonio (Texas), Felts was responsible for management oversight of development services teams and provided guidance in the areas of zoning enforcement, development review, land development, building inspections, and more.
Felts earned a bachelor’s degree in geography from the University of South Alabama. He holds a master’s degree in urban and regional planning from the University of Texas at San Antonio. He is a certified planner with the American Institute of Certified Planners.
