The Park Police host two separate, week-long summer day camps a year called "Cops Camp for Kids." The camp is offered for children ages 9 to 12. Designed to bring law enforcement and the local community together, this program fosters a positive, interactive, and trustworthy environment between police officers and youth. The camp provides exposure to many different facets of the law enforcement profession.
Activities
Children visit the Secret Service facility in Beltsville and attend a juvenile court session in Upper Marlboro. Mounted officers, motorcycle officers, bicycle officers, and detectives demonstrate their skills to the campers. The children also participate in a staged crime scene and mock trial. The experience has produced very positive results for both the campers and officers.
